Check in/Check out SOP

Intro

This document is your guideline to checking in and out each day.

Once you become familiar with the process, this should take you less than 15 minutes each day to complete before you dive into your work for the day.

Logging in

To start your day, log into your computer. You should open / check

  • Your Slack messages
  • Your Email inbox
  • Your Basecamp notifications

Make any notes about anything important or any new assignments.

Next, set a task list on #general in slack

  • Numbered in order of priority / urgency
  • Include anything you think you will work on / complete by the end of the day
  • Anything that you worked on but did not complete, add “ip” to the right (in progress)
    • I.e. “Sign new paperwork - IP”
  • Anything that is super important, you can name it “PRIO” as in priority

If you do not have enough tasks for the day, you can ask any one of these people for any assignments they might have.

  • Writers and designers
  • Project Managers
  • Operations Manager

Once you set your list, begin working!

Logging out

Before you end your day, finish updating your toggl entries

  • Make sure all your working time is accounted for (remember: this is how we calculate your hours for paychecks!)
  • Make sure every entry is properly labeled + filed under a client
    • No time entry should be uncategorized (if you are unsure, ask a neighbor)
  • Sync all your files and save all of your work
    • Make sure everything is in the Google Drive

Make any project updates in Basecamp

  • Add notes to tasks updating the team of your progress
  • Upload any versions / drafts for review

To end your day, go back to your list in #general

  • Copy / paste the list into your chatbox
  • Use the cross out feature to cross through completed tasks
    • I.e. “Sign new paperwork”
  • Anything that you worked on but did not complete, add “ip” to the right (in progress)
    • I.e. “Sign new paperwork - IP”
  • Anything that is super important, you can name it “PRIO” as in priority
  • Submit your list to log out!
